49er WHITE INJURED IN SHOOTING
The early hours of Monday morning would have seen plenty of people in and around San Francisco, many celebrating the Seahawks victory or commiserating over the Patriots loss in Super Bowl LX. But it also saw a distressing incident concerning a player, albeit not one involved in the game itself.
49ers defensive lineman Keion White was shot in the ankle following ‘a verbal altercation between two groups inside a business’, according to a statement from the San Francisco Police Department. Police said they responded to a report of a shooting at a business on the 1700 block of Mission Street at around 4:06am local time. Here, they found White with an apparent gunshot wound. After administering first aid, White was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The 49ers reported that White underwent surgery and that his injuries are also not thought to be career-threatening, while also promising further updates when new information comes to light.
Sadly, reports of their players suffering gunshot wounds are not new for the 49ers, with White’s team-mate Ricky Pearsall shot during a robbery attempt in August 2024.
White was acquired from the Patriots during the 2025 season, playing in nine games with two starts. He amassed six quarterback hits and notched 2.0 sacks.
