BILLS’ SEAT SALE EXCEEDS EXPECTATION
The Buffalo Bills have surpassed expectations in the early sale of personal seat licences (PSLs) for their new stadium, generating nearly $260m in revenue, according to figures reported this week.
The team had initially projected around $225m in PSL sales for the venue, which is expected to come on stream for the start of the new NFL season, but demand has exceeded those estimates by around 15 percent, with more than 53,000 seat licences already sold, according to Sports Business Journal.
PSLs are required for most seating areas in the new stadium — but only grant fans the right to purchase season tickets. The Bills’ 6,162 ‘club’ seats, which require a PSL, have already sold out, highlighting the strong demand among the fanatical Buffalo supporters as the franchise prepares to move into the new facility.
Premium inventory has also proven particularly popular. The stadium’s suite and loge — or box — seating, equating to approximately 1,755 seats, has completely sold out, although those sections did not require PSL purchases.
After accounting for roughly $3.3m in sales-related costs, including commissions paid to consultant Legends Global, the Bills have still generated more than $262m in PSL revenue, according to the reports.
Only a small number of licences remain available. Around 1,300 seats have yet to be sold, many of them single seats scattered throughout the stadium, which the team may ultimately offer on an individual game basis.
