EAGLES DOMINATE EARLY SCHEDULE NEWS
As is their right as reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles are going to feature in a lot of prime time games in the 2025 season.
Having already had their opponents for the traditional kickoff game confirmed as the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL piled on three more high-profile Eagles games ahead of the full schedule release on Wednesday (14th May). Week 10 will see Philly take on the Green Bay Packers in a repeat of their two encounters of 2024, the first coming in São Paulo before a reprise in the playoffs. The Eagles won both of those encounters, and will be looking for a similar result in this Monday night matchup, although Jordan Love and the Packers will want to reverse the trend as they attempt to keep pace with expected NFC North pacesetters Minnesota and Detroit.
Philadelphia will also be front and centre on Black Friday, as they take on another NFC North team, Chicago, in the now-familiar Amazon offering on 28th November. Again, the Eagles should start as favourites, but it will be a new-look Bears team on the opposite sideline as first-year head coach Ben Johnson looks to work his offensive magic with second-year QB Caleb Williams and a heavily overhauled O-line.
Philadelphia’s schedule is due to feature 11 games against teams that made the playoffs last season, and will face seven of the top 10 scoring offenses and six of the top seven scoring defenses in their pursuit of another Lombardi Trophy. Things don’t get any easier as Christmas approaches, as NFC East rival Washington plays host to what could be a division decider on 20th December. The rematch of last season’s NFC Championship Game will provide the Commanders with an opportunity to avenge the 2024 playoff defeat that ended a dream run for Dan Quinn’s men, having split the regular season slate with the eventual champions.
The Eagles-Commanders clash forms half of a Saturday double-header with the Packers taking on the Bears — and Chicago looking to build on the Week 18 victory over their NFC North nemesis that snapped an 11-game losing streak against Green Bay. The Bears have not won back-to-back games against the Packers since 2007 but, with Johnson at the helm, there is a good reason to believe that this could be their time.
Not yet featuring the Eagles or Packers (although that could quite easily change on Wednesday night), the Christmas Day triple-header will culminate with an all-AFC West clash as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead. The Chiefs have ruled the division of late, propelling themselves to multiple Super Bowls and three titles along the way, but Sean Payton’s Broncos were one of the surprise stories of 2024 and will look to continue their rise by taking down their divisional rival in front of a national audience.
The full 2025 NFL schedule will be unveiled on Wednesday 14th May.
