GARRETT STILL RACKING UP ‘MYLESTONES’
It can be very easy to overlook the Cleveland Browns, considering their three-game losing streak sees them sitting at 2-8, almost certainly out of postseason consideration and potentially coming to the end of the Kevin Stefanski era. But for all their troubles and issues, defensive end Myles Garrett is having a tremendous season, and on Sunday he crossed off more significant individual achievements for his career.
Garrett recorded four sacks against Baltimore in Week 11, giving him 15 for the 2025 season and making him the first player since 1982 — when the individual sack became an official statistic — with at least 12 sacks in six consecutive seasons, breaking a tie with Hall-of-Famer Lawrence Taylor, who managed a streak of five consecutive seasons.
Garrett has racked up 117.5 sacks since the Browns drafted him first overall in 2017. He has now moved past other Hall-of-Famers, Jared Allen and DeMarcus Ware, who both notched 117, to sit alone in second place for sacks by a player in his first nine seasons since 1982, trailing only the legendary ‘Minister of Defense’, Reggie White (137).
Garrett had a career-high five sacks in Week 8 and followed this up with his four sacks in Week 11. This made him the fourth player since 1982 with at least four sacks in two games within a season, joining Chandler Jones (2019 with Arizona), Karl Mecklenburg (1985 with Denver) and White (1986 with Philadelphia). Garrett is the fifth player since 1982 with at least four sacks in three career games, joining Leslie O’Neal (four games), Hall of Famers Derrick Thomas (four) and White (three), as well as Jones (three).
Garrett had five sacks in Week 8, one sack in Week 10 and four sacks in Week 11, giving him 10 sacks in a three-game span. He is only the second player since 1982 with 10 sacks in a three-game span in a single season, tying Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Richard Dent (October 21st to November 4th, 1984, with Chicago).
Garrett has played 127 regular season games in his career and has at least one sack in 74 of them. He is tied with Allen (74 games) for the fourth-most games with a sack by a player in his first nine seasons, trailing only White and Ware (both 79) and Von Miller (77).
Quite a day then for Myles, and quite a career. It’s a shame it has not translated into more on field success, with 2025 seemingly another lost season for Garrett and the Browns.
