GRIDIRON POWER RANKINGS 2025: WEEK 2
Welcome to Gridiron’s Week 2 power ranking as the 2025 NFL regular season gets into its stride. Who has got out of their blocks quickest and who has catching up to do?
GRIDIRON POWER RANKINGS: WEEK 2
1. Buffalo Bills (2-0)
After a dramatic comeback came a dominant sweeping aside of the Jets. The best quarterback in football looks to have the most complete roster around him after two weeks.
2. Green Bay Packers (2-0)
Two games, two routine wins over fellow contenders in the NFC. It’s difficult to find many flaws in the Packers right now.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (2-0)
The defense carried the load as the Eagles won the Super Bowl rematch, but the offense has been very uninspiring.
4. Los Angeles Chargers (2-0)
With the Chiefs faltering, this already looks to be the Chargers’ best shot to knock Kansas City off their perch in a long time.
5. Baltimore Ravens (1-1)
Normal service was resumed against the Browns. The Ravens have played 115 minutes of near-perfect football. The questions linger around those final five in Week 1.
6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0)
Baker Mayfield came through in the clutch again. At this point, nobody should be surprised.
7. Detroit Lions (1-1)
Rumours of the demise of the offense sans Ben Johnson were greatly exaggerated.
8. Los Angeles Rams (2-0)
As long as Matthew Stafford’s back continues to hold up, the Rams will be a serious threat in the NFC.
9. Washington Commanders (1-1)
There’s no reason to panic after a loss in Green Bay, but Jayden Daniels’ injury may make in Week 3 more nervy against Las Vegas.
10. San Francisco 49ers (2-0)
The pass rush continues to close out games, and the offense can score points with Mac Jones. If they ever get healthy, the 49ers will be very scary.
11. Arizona Cardinals (2-0)
Arizona tried desperately to throw away a win against the Panthers. A meeting with the 49ers on Sunday will tell us how serious they are.
12. Kansas City Chiefs (0-2)
I can’t in good conscience put a winless team in the top 10, but the Chiefs and Mahomes have enough credit for the top 12, despite how bad their offense looks.
13. Indianapolis Colts (2-0)
There was good fortune attached to their dramatic win over the Broncos, but the Colts now have an opportunity to take control of a deeply flawed AFC South.
14. Denver Broncos (1-1)
The questions about Bo Nix would have been there even if Denver had avoided the controversial late finish in Indianapolis. The Chargers game will be a huge measuring stick for Nix and the offense.
15. Seattle Seahawks (1-1)
Sam Darnold’s penchant for turnovers isn’t going anywhere, but the Seahawks got the running game going in a big way at Pittsburgh.
16. Atlanta Falcons (1-1)
Michael Penix didn’t light up the box score against the Vikings. Thanks to the running game and an encouraging defensive performance, he didn’t need to.
17. Cincinnati Bengals (2-0)
The Bengals can probably win enough games with Jake Browning to stay in the mix, but it’s delusional to think they can be contenders without Joe Burrow.
18. Dallas Cowboys (1-1)
Maybe there is life after Parsons after all. With Brandon Aubrey’s leg, the Cowboys certainly have the weapons to stay in and win shootouts.
19. Minnesota Vikings (1-1)
J.J. McCarthy has played one good quarter of football, and now it’s time for a few weeks of Carson Wentz. Not a great spot for the Vikings.
20. Houston Texans (0-2)
Two narrow defeats for the Texans. There’s no doubting the defensive talent, but the offense looks set to be a tremendous waste of C.J. Stroud’s abilities.
21. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1)
The Steeler defense has been a sieve through two weeks. If that continues to be the case, there will be no chance of Aaron Rodgers bidding farewell with a playoff appearance.
22. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1)
The NFL’s unknowables. Is Trevor Lawrence fixed? What’s going on with Travis Hunter’s usage? Why can’t the defense stop Jake Browning? So many questions.
23. Las Vegas Raiders (1-1)
After a primetime flop, the Raiders will hope a matchup with Chicago can be a get right game for Geno Smith.
24. New England Patriots (1-1)
A much more encouraging performance from Drake Maye in the Patriots’ win over Miami. A favourable schedule over the coming weeks gives the Patriots the chance to build momentum.
25. New York Giants (0-2)
Russell Wilson might have done enough in defeat to briefly pause the clamour for Jaxson Dart.
26. New Orleans Saints (0-2)
The Saints have been in both games right until the end so far, and Spencer Rattler looks like he’ll stick in the league for a long time.
27. Carolina Panthers (0-2)
Some signs of life from Carolina as they almost turned it around in Arizona. More is needed in terms of signs of tangible progress for Bryce Young and, more pertinently, victories.
28. New York Jets (0-2)
Week 1 optimism gave way to a familiar feeling of apathy in Week 2. Justin Fields’ Week 3 absence won’t help that.
29. Chicago Bears (0-2)
It’s difficult to pinpoint what the Bears do well at this point. Rome Odunze was the main player to emerge from Week 2 with any credit.
30. Cleveland Browns (0-2)
The Browns have a defense that allows them to hang around with some of the league’s best, but they don’t have the horses on offense to actually threaten such opponents.
31. Tennessee Titans (0-2)
Cam Ward threw his first passing touchdown in spectacular fashion and the Titans have been vaguely competitive in both games so far. Still, it’s tough to see a Year 3 for Brian Callahan.
32. Miami Dolphins (0-2)
The Dolphins are a team heading for a tear down. Mike McDaniel could be gone after Thursday night.
