LONDON PRIDE

Gridiron

LONDON PRIDE

Gridiron NFL

When the Minnesota Vikings take the field at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to face the Cleveland Browns this weekend, the NFL International Series will chalk off another milestone as London hosts its 40th regular season game.

The phrase ‘from small acorns’ seems a particularly apt British idiom to describe the growth of the International Series initiative which, this year, extends its reach to Ireland and Spain, with Australia on the docket for 2026 and other countries queuing up to host what has quickly become a global travelling show. Who would have thought that, just 18 years on from the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants taking the Series’ first tentative steps at a very soggy Wembley in 2007, London would be approaching games 40, 41 and 42 in its history, while Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Spain and Australia would have joined the roster…

The New York Jets and London’s pride, the Jacksonville Jaguars, are the other ‘hosts’ in the capital this year, facing the Denver Broncos and L.A. Rams respectively, but don’t be surprised to see an entirely different set of names in 2026.

When we first came up with the idea of a regular season game overseas, I didn’t think there would be as much support,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell admitted. “But now, every team wants to do it. We don’t have to talk them into it. They’re asking us about taking part!

Of course, for those unable to attend the games in person — and tickets continue to sell out quickly, even after 18 years — there is always Game Pass International, courtesy of DAZN, which will beam the action from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wembley* (and every other venue across the 272-game schedule) direct to living rooms and fancaves around the globe.
