NACUA IN TROUBLE AGAIN
Some NFL teams must wish they could keep their players under a watchful eye at all times, so as to avoid any unpleasant incidents during the long, long offseason. The Los Angeles Rams are one probably one such team.
The latest cause for exasperation concerns wide receiver Puka Nacua, who is being sued for assault and battery, with gender violence and negligence also cited in the lawsuit.
The plaintiff, Madison Atiabi, claims that Nacua bit and left teeth marks in her shoulder after making an antisemitic statement on New Year’s Eve. Nacua’s attorney has denied the antisemitism and describes the bite as ‘horseplay’…which is delightfully baffling.
Sadly, this is not the first time Nacua and antisemitism have shared column spaces, after he apologised for performing an offensive gesture while on a live-streamed production in December.
Nacua has been a superstar on the field during his short NFL career but, when his off-field antics start earning just as much attention as his deeds between the hashes, it can encourage difficult conversations — something you’d prefer to avoid if you were hoping to sign a top of the market extension…which Nacua is almost certainly hoping to do.
