RAIDERS, BROWNS, SEAHAWKS FIND COORDINATORS
The NFL’s coaching cycle continued full swing this week as several franchises wrapped up pivotal coordinator hires ahead of the 2026 season.
In Las Vegas, the Raiders — now under new head coach Klint Kubiak — have begun assembling the staff that will support their ongoing rebuild after a 3–14 campaign. Kubiak, who departed the Seattle Seahawks as offensive coordinator following their Super Bowl LX victory, has pulled in familiar faces to bolster both sides of the ball.
The Raiders formally announced the hiring of former Seattle quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko as offensive coordinator. The 37-year-old previously worked with Kubiak at multiple stops including New Orleans and Minnesota, and lands his first coordinator title with Las Vegas. Janocko and Kubiak will be tasked with revitalising an offense that finished last in points (14.2), rushing yards and total yards in 2025. Janocko’s promotion reflects the coaching duo’s long-running collaboration, with Kubiak vowing to handle play-calling in partnership with his staff.
Meanwhile, the Raiders opted to promote Rob Leonard from defensive line coach and run-game coordinator to be their new defensive coordinator. Leonard replaces Patrick Graham — who departed for the Pittsburgh Steelers — and inherits a defence that showed resilience against the run but struggled to consistently generate impact in 2025.
New Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken has also completed his search for a defensive play-caller by hiring Mike Rutenberg. Rutenberg, formerly the Atlanta Falcons’ defensive pass game coordinator, steps into his first DC role after Jim Schwartz resigned earlier this offseason after a failed bid to be promoted to the top job. Rutenberg, 44, brings years of defensive coaching experience from the Falcons, Jets, 49ers and Jaguars and will oversee one of the league’s top defensive units, including DpoY Myles Garrett and DroY Carson Schwesinger.
Up in Seattle, the Super Bowl champions are having to replenish their offensive staff after losing both Kubiak and Janocko. As a result, the Seahawks have hired Brian Fleury, previously the San Francisco 49ers’ run game coordinator and tight ends coach, as Kubiak’s replacement at offensive coordinator. Fleury’s Shanahan-style offensive background is seen as a natural fit for Seattle’s scheme moving forward.
