RAVENS FLOCK TO RIO FOR COWBOYS CLASH
The NFL has confirmed that the Baltimore Ravens will face the Dallas Cowboys in the league’s first regular-season game in Rio de Janeiro later this year.
Announced with the Ravens on the clock during night one of the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh, the Week 3 match-up will take place in primetime at the fabled Estadio Maracanã on Sunday 27th September, a first for a game in South America. Dallas had already been named as the designated team for the fixture, with Baltimore now confirmed as their opponent for what will be the NFL’s first game staged in Brazil’s second-largest city.
“We are honoured to be chosen for the NFL’s first-ever game in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,” said Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti. “The international expansion of our great game has been remarkable. South America is home to some of the world’s most passionate sports fans, including our Ravens Flock in Brazil. We look forward to playing in the iconic Maracanã stadium against the Dallas Cowboys, as our league continues to engage with fans across the globe.”
The Cowboys’ appearance in Rio will be only their second in the modern International Series era, following a single game in London more than a decade ago.
“We’re thrilled and honoured to be part of Rio’s first NFL game,” team owner, president and general manager Jerry Jones commented. “Playing in the legendary Maracanã against the Ravens in front of such a passionate and growing fan base on a global stage will be very special for our team, our entire Cowboys organisation and the millions watching back home and around the world.”
Brazil represents one of the NFL’s fastest-growing international markets, with more than 36 million fans. The league has committed to staging at least three regular-season games in Rio over the next five years as part of its broader international strategy, having previously played two regular season games at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo.
