TITANS UNVEIL NEW LOGO, UNIFORMS
The Tennessee Titans have unveiled a redesigned logo and uniform set, marking the franchise’s latest visual evolution as the team prepares for a new era in Nashville.
Revealed on the club’s social media channels on Thursday night, the overhaul blends elements of the franchise’s Houston Oilers heritage with nearly three decades of history in Tennessee, while incorporating design cues tied specifically to Nashville and the state itself.
“We wanted to come up with something that took the best parts of all of that and bring it together in a way that makes sense,” said Titans president and chief executive officer Burke Nihill. “I feel like we’re building on the legacy of what got us here, and we’re doing it in a way that is going to set the course of this organisation for decades to come in a pretty special way.”
The Titans’ primary home combination will feature light blue jerseys paired with white pants, while the road look will centre on white jerseys worn with either light blue or white pants. The team will also retain the option of wearing white at home.
Across the chest of the home jerseys, the word ‘TITANS’ is stitched above the numbers, while the away jerseys display ‘TENNESSEE’ in the same position. The light blue jerseys carry white numbers outlined in red, while the white jerseys feature light blue numbers also outlined in red, with numbering placed on the front, back and shoulders.
Titans blue remains a central element of the redesign. According to the club, the colour’s popularity was confirmed through strong sales of throwback Oilers merchandise and through fan surveys and focus groups.
“I think that Titans blue is a really bold colour, a really powerful colour,” said Erin Swartz, the team’s senior vice president of brand marketing. “Seven other teams in the NFL have navy, but this colour is much more unique to us. So, it’s a way for fans to uniquely show their support, and really fill stadiums both home and away with Titans blue to support their team. We wanted to give them that tool to kind of stand out, as Titans fans.”
The new primary logo features a redesigned white T set within a Titans blue circle, accented in white and red and incorporating three white stars representing the state of Tennessee. The flames that previously surrounded the emblem have been removed, giving the mark a cleaner appearance while maintaining recognisable elements from the franchise’s existing identity.
The logo will appear on both sides of a white helmet fitted with a white facemask and a distinctive stripe running across the crown.
“I don’t think it’s a departure from anything,” Nihill said. “It’s more of an evolution of the best of who we’ve always been and who we want to be going forward. We wanted the uniform, and brand of the Tennessee Titans, to be the best of who we’ve always been. And the logo that we’ve worn on the side of the helmet for the past 25-plus years is part of the best of who’ve always been. There’s a clear familiarity, and we wanted that.
“Relative to fireballs and swords and Greek, our hope is Mr. Titan shows up in full gear for the first game this year. That’s been a part of who we’ve been, and those logos instantly become some of the best retro logos in sports. This just brings everything together in a way that feels like it is going to stand the test of time.”
Several design features draw directly from the culture of Nashville. A distinctive “six-string stripe” — referencing the city’s musical heritage — runs across the helmet, sleeves and pants, combining navy, white, red and Titans blue.
Three additional navy stars appear on the back neckline of the jerseys and beneath the arms, symbolising Tennessee’s three Grand Divisions.
The wordmark on the chest uses a Woodblock font, inspired by Nashville’s creative community and traditional printmaking. Meanwhile, the jersey numbers take cues from classic collegiate styles.
Inside the collar sits a tab bearing the word ‘WE’, accompanied by the Tennessee Tri-Star, a nod to the team’s ‘We Over Me’ locker-room philosophy.
“When coach (Robert) Saleh came to the team, and we showed it to him, he loved it,” Nihill said. “He loved this idea of ‘we’ being the last thing that a player sees before they put on their jersey, that this is about the team.”
The franchise also introduced a secondary ‘Football’ logo, featuring the letters TN (or NT for Nashville, Tennessee) and three stars within the outline of a football, intended to represent the connection between the team, its city and its fanbase.
According to Nihill, the redesign process spanned several years and incorporated feedback from supporters, alumni and community groups through surveys and focus groups.
“This is something that evolved over time,” he said. “I do hope our fans feel proud when they see it. I think these new uniforms, and all the other brand elements, are something people will respond to, and react to. During this process, the number of times that we heard: ‘These are the best uniforms in pro sports’ weren’t words we were putting in peoples’ mouths. They were saying that to us.”
