TOM BRADY WALKS ON WATER — WELL, ALMOST…
Team Brady, the powerboat team owned by NFL icon Tom Brady, has been crowned ‘Champions of the Water’ in the inaugural E1 World Championship, the world’s first all-electric raceboat series.
Following races across five iconic global cities around the world — including Jeddah, Venice and Monaco — Brady again tasted that winning feeling, adding to his seven Super Bowl titles by overcoming strong competition from eight other teams, all owned by international superstars, including tennis champion Rafael Nadal, actor Will Smith, football legend Didier Drogba, F1’s Sergio Perez and global cricket icon Virat Kohli, amongst others.
“It feels amazing winning the first ever E1 World Championship,” Brady commented. “I’m so proud of everyone on the team. Ben and Joe, our team principals, lead the way with solving a lot of problems, and our two pilots, Sam (Coleman) and Emma (Kimilainen) played off each other and their chemistry and the camaraderie of the entire team was on full display.
“I’m really proud of everybody this season for what we accomplished. I know that we all love to win, that’s why we go out there and perform as hard as we can every week. I am super excited about what we accomplished and I know that there’s way more to come, but I really think that everyone should enjoy this victory until the start of next season.”
With each team competing with the championship’s unique and innovative RaceBird hydrofoil craft, Team Brady left Smith’s Westbrook Racing and Marc Anthony’s Team Miami powered by Magnus to take second and third places respectively in the overall standings, having claimed three wins across the season and finishing the inaugural season with an 11-point lead over their nearest rival.
“We congratulate Tom and his team on their momentous win as the first-ever ‘Champions on the Water’ following a season of tough competition and thrilling racing,” series co-founder and CEO Rodi Basso added. “As Team Brady write their name into the history books, we look ahead to a supercharged season two, as we take the innovative championship to new cities around the world and continue to redefine racing on water.”
