TRAVIS AND TAYLOR ENTER A NEW ERA
Two weeks after they could have revealed all on a record-breaking edition of the New Heights podcast, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift announced their engagement via a series of social media posts.
It is unclear exactly when the pair decided to take the next step in their relationship — and it could, indeed, have been after the show, which set a new world record with a total of 1.3m concurrent views for a podcast on YouTube and has since gone on to rack up over 20m views — but the news broke Tuesday during a Kansas City Chiefs media availability session, leaving defensive end Michael Danna unexpectedly having to face questions about the latest developments in a relationship that began two years ago and has gone on to pull together two diverse fanbases.
“I was caught off guard but, you know, great for them,” Danna told the assembled press corps. “Any time you find that type of joy, blessing, love… that’s a beautiful thing.”
The relationship has been well-documented — to the mass chagrin of male football fans — via endless shots of Swift attending, and invariably celebrating at, Chiefs games, as well as a constant stream of fan videos showing Kelce attending, and invariably dancing at, Swift’s Eras concert tour. The engagement, however, suggests that cynics who claimed the union was nothing more than a publicity stunt — in part fuelled by her string of high-profile partners and his bespoke version of The Bachelor, entitled Catching Kelce, that occurred before they met — may be wrong.
