‘UNDAUNTED’ KUBIAK FINALLY CONFIRMED AS RAIDERS HC
The Las Vegas Raiders have finally been able to name Klint Kubiak as the franchise’s next head coach, having been denied the opportunity prior to the Super Bowl.
The announcement, however, brings one of the league’s rising offensive architects to Sin City following Seattle’s 2025 championship season, and marks the second Raiders HC hiring from the Pacific Northwest following the failed one-and-done season with veteran Pete Carroll.
“It’s not daunting at all. It’s a blessing,” Kubiak said of the weight of history during his introductory press conference. “That’s what you want to be. That’s what I want our players to want to achieve. I want them to see these guys, be surrounded by these guys, because that’s what their goals should be, win Super Bowls. The MVPs and Hall of Fame, that takes care of itself when the team wins. So, that’s what we’re going to be about: winning.”
Kubiak enters his 13th NFL season and 17th overall in coaching after serving as offensive coordinator for the Seahawks’ Super Bowl LX-winning campaign. In his lone season in the Emerald City, he helped guide the team to a 14-3 record and an NFC West title while overseeing one of the league’s most explosive offenses.
The Seahawks ranked third in the NFL in scoring at 28.4 points per game and eighth in total offense at 351.4 yards per contest. They also finished eighth in passing offense and sixth in yards per play, setting franchise records for points scored (483) and point differential (+191) while leading the league in multiple 30-point performances, including nine games with 30 or more points and seven with at least 35, counting the postseason.
Under Kubiak’s direction, quarterback Sam Darnold earned his second Pro Bowl nod after completing 67.7 percent of his passes for 4,048 yards and 25 touchdowns. Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba delivered a historic season with 119 receptions for a league-high 1,793 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning first-team All-Pro honours and Offensive Player of the Year recognition, while the ground game also surged from 28th in rushing in 2024 to 10th in 2025, with Kenneth Walker III topping 1,000 yards and Zach Charbonnet adding 12 rushing touchdowns.
Prior to Seattle, Kubiak served as offensive coordinator in New Orleans in 2024, navigating injuries at quarterback while leaning on Alvin Kamara’s dual-threat production. In 2023, as the San Francisco 49ers’ offensive passing game specialist, he contributed to a unit that ranked second in total offense and first in redzone touchdown percentage. Brock Purdy posted a league-best 113.0 passer rating that season, while four San Francisco offensive players earned AP All-Pro honours.
Kubiak previously coached with the Vikings from 2019-21, helping Kirk Cousins produce three straight seasons of at least 26 touchdown passes and a 100.0 passer rating. He also held roles in Denver and began his NFL coaching career in Minnesota.
A former safety at Colorado State, Kubiak is the son of long-time NFL coach Gary Kubiak and joins the Raiders aiming to replicate the offensive success that defined his recent stops.
“In this league, if you don’t take care of business, then you get chewed up and spit out real quick,” he concluded. “Every one of us up here has been through that. I’m going to have to earn the right to coach this whole season, to coach the next season. I have got to show [owner Mark] Davis that our programme is about the right things and that we’re developing these players. I don’t take for granted how long I’m going to be here. I know that I have to earn it every day.”
