VETERAN MILLER JOINS COMMANDERS
Long-time standout pass rusher Von Miller is signing with the Washington Commanders ahead of the 2025 NFL season.
The former Super Bowl MVP hinted at the next move in his storied career via a cryptic social media post, with confirmation arriving via the usual outlets shortly afterwards. An eight-time Pro Bowl participant, Miller — who is now 36 — was seemingly tipped for potential retirement before today’s developments, and will join his fourth NFL club in time for training camp as he bids to prolong a professional career that saw him drafted second overall by the Denver Broncos in 2011 and spending nine seasons in the Mile High City, where he achieved his ambition of winning a Lombardi Trophy, becoming MVP in the victory over Carolina in Super Bowl 50.
Moving on to the Los Angeles Rams allowed Miller to add a second ring to his collection, along with the achievement of joining Justin Tuck (NY Giants) as the only players to have multiple sacks in more one Super Bowl appearance. His next stop came in Buffalo, but his hopes of leading the Bills to the promised land faltered amid a string of injuries and an ill-timed suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
Miller, who sits on an active league-high total of 129.5 career sacks, was released by the Bills back in March, but now appears to have caught a career lifeline which will pair him with fellow veteran Bobby Wagner in Dan Quinn’s Commanders defense. It remains to be seen, however, whether he has the required fitness to match his undoubted ability as a pass rusher and make it through to the active roster.
