WALTER PAYTON NOMINEES REVEALED FOR 2025
The Walter Payton Man of the Year Award is perhaps the most prestigious in the entire NFL, celebrating players — in the words of commissioner Roger Goodell — for their ‘excellence both on and off the field’.
The award, first instituted in 1970 and renamed in 1999 following the death of the legendary Chicago Bears running back, recognises players who demonstrate a commitment to creating a positive impact beyond the game. Winners of the award wear a Man of the Year patch on their jerseys throughout the season to recognise the outstanding contributions they have made to the game and their communities. The 2025 club winners were announced today, with each named player going forward for consideration for the overall award.
“These 32 men represent the best of the NFL, and the incredible contributions they make to their teams and communities every day continue to keep Walter’s legacy alive” Goodell added.
Fans can affect the vote via X/Twitter by posting #WPMOYChallenge along with the full name/handle of their chosen player, or by voting directly on NFL.com/ManOfTheYear.
The charitable beneficiary of the player who receives the most collective hashtag mentions and online votes will win an additional $35,000 donation from award sponsor Nationwide, with the non-profit partners of the runner-up and third-place finishers receiving $10,000 and $5,000, respectively. Charity Challenge voting takes place between 4th December and 5th January.
