WHERE TO WATCH NFL PRESEASON GAMES
Although the NFL regular season doesn’t kick off until early September 5, there will be plenty of opportunities for fans to get a preseason fix, with warmup games being screened live on both Sky Sports and NFL Network throughout August.
Depending on where you choose to watch, there should be something for fans of all teams to enjoy, be it Welsh rugby superstar Louis Rees-Zammit taking to the field for the first time for the Kansas City Chiefs, Gaelic football favourite Charlie Smyth repping the Irish tricolour for the New Orleans Saints, or simply getting and early look at four of the teams who are coming to the UK for the 2024 London Games.
Established international players Efe Obada, Jermaine Eluemunor and Jamie Gillan should also see some preseason action this month. Following a difficult end to his 2023 campaign, in which he was sidelined for the final six weeks of the regular season, Obada — the UK’s current longest serving NFL player — returns for a third year with the Washington Commanders. Eluemunor, meanwhile, switches the west coast for the east coast in 2024, having signed the first two-year deal of his career with the New York Giants in March, joining special teams ace Gillan in the Big Apple.
All of the above will feature as part of Sky Sports’ preseason coverage (on either Sky Sports Mix or Sky Sports Action), while the NFL Network (available via DAZN) will also feature multiple games across the three-week schedule, including a tripleheader on Saturday 10th August and a doubleheader on Sunday 11th August.
The live schedule for Week 1 of preseason kicks off tonight (Thursday 8th August) when 2024 #3 overall pick Drake Maye and the New England Patriots host last year’s first overall selection Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers at 7pm ET. Just 24 later, 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans travel to face the Pittsburgh Steelers, now with Russell Wilson and/or Justin Fields under center, with more games across the weekend.
