The American Football League Europe has announced a significant expansion of its media and broadcast strategy ahead of kickoff weekend, unveiling both its new direct-to-consumer streaming platform AFLE+ and a free-to-air television agreement with Austrian broadcaster krone.tv.

The announcements represent the latest attempt by the start-up league to establish broad international visibility before its inaugural season begins on May 23rd.

AFLE+ officially launches worldwide on Wednesday 20th May, giving supporters access to every live AFLE game, full replays, condensed games, highlights, original programming and the full 2026 season archive through a dedicated streaming service available on desktop, tablet and mobile devices. The platform will operate using a tiered subscription structure that ranges from a free ‘Sideline Pass’ featuring highlights and behind-the-scenes content through to individual game purchases, weekend passes, monthly subscriptions and a full-season package covering the playoffs and the AFLE Gold Bowl.

Week 1 of the season will be available free worldwide to supporters who register with an email address, while the league is also offering a discounted ‘Founders Pass’ promotion during launch week.

AFLE+ is the moment European American football opens up to the world,” Moritz Heisler, managing director and COO of the AFLE said, describing the launch as a defining moment for the league’s wider ambitions. “Every AFLE game, every replay, every highlight now lives on a single platform — from the season opener on May 23rd through the AFLE Gold Bowl on September 6th — available to fans on every continent.

We built AFLE+ to be close to our fans and affordable for them. No fan should ever be priced out of the team they love. Together with WSC Sports, we are not building a side project, we are building the digital home of European American football for the long term.”

The streaming service has been built in partnership with WSC Sports, whose technology will power the platform’s live streaming infrastructure and automated highlight generation systems. According to the league, WSC Sports’ artificial intelligence tools will automatically identify major moments such as touchdowns, turnovers and explosive plays before rapidly generating social media clips, highlights and match summaries.

Alongside the streaming rollout, the AFLE also confirmed a major national television agreement in Austria.

Under the new deal, krone.tv becomes the official free-to-air broadcaster of the Vienna Vikings for the entire 2026 season, showing every game — both home and away — live and free across Austria. The agreement gives one of Europe’s strongest and most established fanbases full nationwide access to the Vikings without subscription barriers.

Bringing every single Vienna Vikings game, home and away, to free-to-air television in Austria is a defining moment for our league and for the sport in this country,” Heisler said. “The Vikings have one of the most passionate fan bases in Europe, and they deserve to follow their team without barriers. Together with krone.tv, we are giving every household in Austria a front-row seat to the AFLE.”

Fabienne Lampe, head of communications of the AFLE, said the partnership represented a significant opportunity to push American football further into the Austrian mainstream.

American football has developed an enormous following in Austria, and the Vienna Vikings are at the heart of that growth,” Lampe said. “With the AFLE, we are bringing a top-tier international competition to our viewers — live, free-to-air, and on a platform that reaches all of Austria. Showing every home and away game of the Vikings on krone.tv is a clear commitment to Austrian sports fans and to the future of the sport in this country.”

The Vienna Vikings will open their AFLE campaign against the Berlin Thunder on Saturday 23rd May at 5pm CEST.
