EFA CONFIRMS TITLE GAME FOR INNSBRUCK

The European Football Alliance has confirmed that the inaugural EFA Championship Game will be staged at Tivoli Stadion Tirol in Innsbruck on August 29th, handing one of Europe’s most established organisations the showcase event of the league’s first season.

The home of Raiders Tirol was unveiled as the host venue by the EFA late on Thursday, with the Austrian club’s picturesque stadium set to stage the culmination of a campaign whose finalists will be determined in a semi-final double-header in Frankfurt. Tivoli Stadion Tirol has long been regarded as one of Europe’s premier American football venues and remains one of the continent’s most recognisable settings. The stadium, which opened at the turn of the century, can accommodate around 17,000 spectators in its standard configuration, and previously hosted games during UEFA’s Euro 2008 tournament alongside regular major European football events.

The decision further underlines the importance of Raiders Tirol within the new EFA structure having stuck by the original coalition during the emergence of the breakaway AFLE which further altered the structure of the sport during the offseason. Reinstatement as a full member of the EFA in early December may have ended the Raiders’ natural, and historic, rivalry with the Vienna Vikings, but their presence adds further value to a league revolving around six of the continent’s premier clubs.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Austrian Alps, the selection of Tivoli Stadion Tirol also represents another significant moment for one of Europe’s best-known clubs. Founded in 1992, the Raiders organisation has claimed multiple Austrian and European titles across several eras of continental competition, and has long been viewed as one of the benchmark operations in the European game. Now its long-time home is gaining its own slice of intentional recognition.

“This is more than a game, it’s the beginning of a new tradition for European football,” league CEO Eric Reutemann commented. “The EFA Championship Game will bring together the best athletes, passionate fanbases, and the incredible energy of our sport on one of Europe’s premier stages. Innsbruck is the perfect host for this historic event.”

The league’s semi-finals, branded as the ‘BIG4’, are scheduled to take place over the weekend of August 15-16th at the PSD Bank Arena in Frankfurt before the two remaining teams advance to Austria for the championship decider.
