The Vienna Vikings have bolstered their offense with another top-tier playmaker, poaching wide receiver Darrell Stewart Jr from league rivals Wroclaw.

The 29-year-old Michigan State graduate joins the Vikings after stints in the NFL with Green Bay and Carolina, as well as Dresden, Stuttgart and Wroclaw in Europe. Vienna and Wroclaw are amongst the five teams that form the core of the new American Football League Europe, ramping up the intensity of their meetings in 2026.

Since his European debut in 2021, Stewart has been one of the most explosive offensive weapons on the continent. With his athleticism, football IQ and versatility, the American quickly made a name for himself and has been one of the most productive receivers and returners in Europe in recent years.

Offensive Coordinator Jordan Neuman, who previously worked successfully with Stewart in Stuttgart, is particularly excited about the reunion.

Darrell has been one of the top offensive weapons in all of Europe since he arrived in Germany back in 2021,” the title-winning coach said. “It’s exciting to reunite with D.J. and build on the two years we have already spent together. D.J. brings a lot to a football team, both on and off the field, which makes this a great signing for Vienna on many levels.”

Stewart himself is also thrilled about his move to Vienna and is full of anticipation of joining the 2025 European League of Football runners-up. When asked what motivated him to sign with the Vikings and what his expectations are, the Houston native emphasis the family-style organisation and its culture of dominance.

I expect to contribute to the organisation in every way possible, also becoming the best I have ever been,” Stewart insisted.

The Vikings’ offense continues to take shape, with Stewart joining recently-confirmed wide receiver Noah Toure, running back Johannes Schütz, wide receiver Emil Eckerstorfer, offensive lineman Lukas Holub, offensive lineman David Rauter and tight end Vito Millauer on the roster. Quarterback Ben Holmes and running back Karri Pajarinen have also extended their contracts and will remain cornerstones of the offense in 2026, along with returning tight end Bernhard Seikovits, who recently spent four years with the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL.
