The Cologne Centurions head into the fifth season of the European League of Football with new generals in charge of the legion as Kevin Tewe and Senad Mecavica take ownership of the German franchise.

The Centurions, one of the eight founding members of the ELF in 2021, have yet to post a winning season, having twice finished .500, but know what it is like to reach the playoffs, having lost in the inaugural campaign’s semi-finals to eventual champions Frankfurt. Originally owned by former Sky manager Hans Seger, Cologne will now hope to improve their previous record under the new partnership of Tewe and Mecavica.

Tewe, a nationally-renowned entrepreneur with expertise in brand building, media, and marketing, is joining the franchise’s management structure and will work alongside Mecavica as chief of brand and co-owner. Together, the two aim to redevelop the organisation both strategically and economically with the long-term goal of firmly establishing the Centurions in the ‘Champions League’ of European football.

Mecavica is currently managing director of Novel Media GmbH, a Munich-based agency for branding, content and influencer relations serving well-known brands and personalities from business, culture and sports. He brings strong entrepreneurial experience, a keen sense of branding and digital communications and a passion for American football. Tewe, meanwhile, is the founder and managing director of the successful ALL IN agency, where he has helped shape numerous careers in the music and entertainment industry while building a broad, cross-industry network. He now brings his experience in brand building, company development and communications to the Centurions with a clear focus on professionalisation, sustainable growth and emotional fan engagement.

“I’m delighted that we were able to secure Kevin Tewe for this pivotal role at the Centurions,” Mecavica commented. “He not only brings entrepreneurial expertise and creative drive but, above all, a tremendous passion for the sport. With his energy and network, we want to make a fresh start — on and off the field.”

Tewe’s excellent connections in culture, media and business will be utilised to establish new partnerships, organise events and further expand the Centurions’ visibility in their home region, strengthening the franchise not only in terms of sport, but also as a brand.

“The Centurions stand for passion, team spirit, and ambition — values with which I identify 100 percent,” Tewe insisted. “I see enormous potential in this project and want to use my experience to help us take the organisation to the next level. It’s not just about football, but about inspiring people and further establishing the Centurions brand in Cologne and beyond.”

The Centurions kick off their 2025 season on the road at Berlin Thunder on 18th May.
