ORANGE IS THE NEW…. PURPLE?

After a challenging 2024 season, the Frankfurt Galaxy are kicking off the new European League of Football campaign with fresh energy and a clear mission under the motto ‘Galaxy Reloaded’.

A key part of the revitalisation will be the return of the team’s legendary orange colours that made the original Galaxy such an icon during the NFL Europe era, and will once again be part of the team’s visual identity from 2025.

This comeback is more than just a visual rebrand, with the team claiming it to be ‘a bold statement of legacy, local pride, and the continued evolution of one of Europe’s most storied football franchises’.

The Galaxy began as one of the founding teams of the World League of American Football (WLAF), later known as NFL Europe, back in 1991. Over nearly two decades, the team became a sporting and cultural beacon, both for the city of Frankfurt and American football enthusiasts across Europe. With a loyal fanbase, electrifying home games at Frankfurt’s Waldstadion, and four World Bowl titles (1995, 1999, 2003, 2006), the Galaxy are still considered one of the most successful and tradition-rich teams of the league’s history.

Their striking colour combination of purple, white and orange became a signature

identity over the years, with the latter standing for energy, momentum and a passionate football spirit that radiated far beyond the borders of Frankfurt. Since joining the ELF as a founder member in 2021, the team has firmly re-establis￾hed itself as a modern football brand in a new competitive environment, and the decision to reintroduce the classic orange into the team’s visual identity was based on a combination of fan requests and as an emotional and strategic move.

We want to bring our history back to life while channelling the spirit of NFL Europe into the present day,” team CEO Eric Reutemann explained. “Orange is a symbol of our roots — and of our determination to set the standard in this league today.”

The new design, featured across jerseys, merchandise and digital platforms, is meant to ap￾peal not only to nostalgic fans, but also to emotionally connect with a whole new generation. It is a bold statement that identity, tradition and innovation don’t have to be contradictions. The return of orange is also a message to the fans who have stood by the team for decades — ‘You are part of this story, and part of what’s next’.

The new look is expected to be revealed in the next few weeks and a dedicated merchandise collection is already in the works.

The Galaxy’s first home game of the 2025 season takes place on June 1st at Stadion am Bieberer Berg when they host the Paris Musketeers, following back-to-back road games against the Stuttgart Surge (18th May) and Madrid Bravos (24th May).
