PANTHERS ADD AMOS LAOYE TO O-LINE
Nigerian offensive lineman Amos Laoye is the latest addition to the Panthers Wroclaw roster as the Polish team gears up for the inaugural AFLE season.
Standing nearly six feet tall and weighing 290 pounds, Laoye began his American football career in Brussels at the age of 16, before moving, a couple of years later, to GFL 1, where he represented teams such as the New Yorker Lions. Previously a water polo player, Laoye got his first taste of continental action when he signed with Hungarian ELF franchise, the Féhérvar Enthroners, in 2025 and now, with the Enthroners heading back to the Austrian national league for 2026, has been snapped up by the ambitious Panthers operation.
“I decided to come after a ‘phone call with my former coach, Troy Tomlin,” Laoye revealed. “I also knew and heard good things about the Panthers long before they joined the ELF or AFLE, so that also played a role in my decision.”
Citing his season’s ambitions as ‘getting us to 2,000 yards down the stretch, keeping a clean sheet, making my team-mates better, protecting the quarterback, and making it to the finals’, Laoye intends to tap into his warrior spirit in an effort to lift the Panthers to new heights.
“I would describe my playing style as spectacular,” he laughed. “I think my greatest weapon is my fighting spirit and the will to knock anyone I come into contact with down to earth.”
Having participated in the NFL International Combine in London, the Nigerian knows where he can improve his game, describing the opportunity to learn from professional players as ‘incredible’.
“Although, unfortunately, I didn’t advance to the next level, I thought it went quite well,” Laoye explained. “We had a short training session with LeCharles Bentley, and he pointed out some mistakes to me, so I’ve been working on my hand positioning and technique ever since.”
