PANTHERS HIT THEIR STRIDE IN ITALIAN HEAT

Panthers Wrocław’s emphatic 48-7 victory over the Firenze Red Lions may have looked comfortable on the scoreboard, but running back Bartosz Woch insists the conditions made it one of the team’s toughest assignments of the season.

The Panthers controlled Sunday’s American Football League Europe contest from start to finish, piling up nearly 300 rushing yards while extending their winning streak to three games and strengthening their position among the league’s leading contenders. Yet, according to Woch, the soaring temperatures in Florence demanded as much resilience as football execution.

“Looking at the score alone, one might think it was a breeze, but the truth is that it was a very tough game — mainly because of the weather,” Woch said. “Sure, the recent heatwave had toughened us up a bit, but the pace of a game in such scorching heat is the ultimate test, and something you can’t fully simulate in practice.

“I have to give huge credit to the Panthers’ staff and physios here. They did a Herculean job on the sidelines. They were constantly running, cooling us down and attending to every detail. Without their help, we wouldn’t have been able to pull off a performance like that physically.”

Those efforts allowed Wrocław to execute a game plan perfectly suited to the conditions. Rather than relying solely on the passing game, the Panthers repeatedly imposed themselves on the ground, controlling possession and limiting the physical toll of playing under an unforgiving Italian sun.

Dawid Brzozowski led the way with two rushing touchdowns, while Kamil Kotlarz, quarterback Jameson Wang, Mike Harley Jr, Woch and Kacper Jaszewski all found the end zone in another balanced offensive display.

The performance also drew praise from offensive lineman Rafał Rogaczewski, who said the team had spent the entire week focusing on avoiding complacency.

“Before the game, we knew the only team that could cost us the win was ourselves,” Rogaczewski said. “That’s why, all week long, we reminded the players to stay fully focused and execute the coaches’ game plan.

“The result shows the whole team pulled it off perfectly — the defense kept their threats far away from our end zone while, on offense, we steadily extended our lead. Our form is improving with every game, and I hope it leads us to another final.

“We want to thank the entire administrative staff for organising the trip; taking such a large group on such a major excursion is no easy task, yet they once again allowed us to focus entirely on the game, knowing they had taken care of everything else.”

Having opened the season with a statement victory over the London Warriors before suffering their only defeat against the Vienna Vikings, the Panthers have responded impressively, winning three on the bounce to re-establish themselves as genuine Gold Bowl contenders.

Wrocław return home on Saturday to host the Paris Lights at the Olympic Stadium, where the club will combine the Independence Day weekend fixture with an American-themed fan festival featuring classic vehicles, family entertainment and appearances from U.S. Army personnel stationed in Poland.
