The Vienna Vikings have bolstered their offensive line heading into the 2026 American Football League Europe by signing one of the continent’s most sought-after players.

Australian Brendan Oswin was crowned as the European League of Football’s premier lineman last season but, following the competition’s demise, has decided to forsake the Madrid Bravos and cross from the European Football Alliance to the rival AFLE.

The 6’3″, 275lb import joins an already strong Vikings O-line, and has spent many seasons in Europe having previously played for the Potsdam Royals, with whom he won the German Bowl in 2024 and 2025. He now brings that winning mentality to the Austrian capital, where he will line up alongside two First Team ELF All-Stars in Lukas Holub and David Rauter, with rookie Nick Holub having also been announced.

You can’t pass up the opportunity to play for a team like Vienna,” Oswin insisted. “They’re one of the best organisations and teams European American football has seen, and that’s something every player should want to be a part of.”

The 27-year-old openly admits that his sights are set on ‘winning a championship’, and Vikings head coach Chris Calaycay clearly sees his new signing as another integral part of that aim.

Brendan has been one of the best offensive linemen in Europe over the past couple of seasons, and his versatility and athleticism are immediately apparent when you watch him play,” Calaycay commented. “It’s been a long time coming, but I’m excited that we have finally got him to Vienna.”
