TGS — AFLE WK7: PARIS SCARE PANTHERS — AGAIN
The American Football League Europe’s playoff contenders were forced to work a little harder than usual for their victories as the 2026 campaign reached Week 7, with Panthers Wrocław, in particular, having to overcome stubborn opponents before strengthening their position near the top of the South/East Conference.
Elsewhere, the Vienna Vikings tightened their grip on the league’s only unbeaten record with a comfortable victory on the road, while the London Warriors claimed just their second success in an entertaining battle with the improving Firenze Red Lions.

Paris Lights 27 @ 38 Panthers Wrocław
For the second time this season, the Paris Lights pushed Panthers Wrocław far harder than many expected.
Having already proved to be awkward opponents on home soil earlier in the campaign, the expansion side again exposed vulnerabilities in one of the AFLE’s title contenders, racing into an early lead as quarterback Evan Hillock and receiver Florian Larose combined for a firt-half touchdown hat-trick. By contrast, Wrocław’s usually disciplined outfit repeatedly stalled promising drives by committing first-half penalties, allowing Paris to dictate the opening exchanges and establish a two-possession advantage before Michael Harley Jr closed the gap just before the interval.
The game, however, turned dramatically after half-time, with the team’s roles effectively swapping during the break. Whatever adjustments the Panthers made transformed both their discipline and execution, ensuring a clean second half that allowed the Polish side to gain the upper hand while Paris continued to undermine promising possessions with costly flags of their own.
The decisive moment arrived in the third quarter when defensive back Ben Wenzler stepped in front of a Hillock pass and returned it for a touchdown, swinging momentum firmly in the home side’s favour shortly after Edu Perez had brought the Panthers to within a point. Quarterback Jameson Wang again proved why he remains one of the league’s most dangerous dual-threat quarterbacks, adding a 23-yard rushing touchdown to Dawid Brzozowski’s two-yard rumble late in the fourth quarter as Wrocław completed a 38-27 victory.
The win moves Wrocław to 5-1 ahead of a defining showdown with Rhein Fire, while Paris — for whom a Chris Voumbo score kept things respectable — continue to demonstrate that, despite their record, they are fast becoming one of the league’s more competitive opponents.

Vienna Vikings 45 @ 7 Berlin Thunder
While the Panthers attempted to keep pace at the top of their conference, Vienna continued to remind the rest of the league that it is they that hold the power by coming just four points shy of repeating their opening weekend thrashing of the hapless Berlin Thunder.
After opening the season with a comfortable 49-7 victory on home turf, the Vikings completed the season sweep with an even more comprehensive 45-7 success on the road to remain unbeaten at 6-0. With the Thunder having shown improved form against other supposed powerhouses, it would have sent renewed warning shots to Wrocław and Dusseldorf heading into the second half of the regular season.
Former Thunder running back Albert Wiesigstrauch enjoyed a particularly satisfying afternoon against his old club, rushing for two first-half touchdowns while averaging more than 11 yards per carry as Vienna’s ground game repeatedly gashed the Berlin defense. Vikings quarterback Ben Holmes again orchestrated an offense that surpassed 500 total yards, continuing the remarkable balance between the Vikings’ passing and rushing attacks that has made them the league’s benchmark through six games.
As if they weren’t already the underdog, Berlin never recovered from a disastrous first half. Quarterback Jakeb Sullivan completed just three passes before half-time and threw two interceptions as the Thunder fell behind early, with much of his eventual passing production arriving after the contest had effectively been settled. Ironically, a 67-yard touchdown run from Kai Hunter had brought Berlin level at 7-7 in the opening period, before the home side allowed their opponent to romp away on the back of scores from Johannes Schütz, Bernhard Seikovits and Karri Pajarinen, who provided book-end touchdowns for the Vikings.
Vienna now head into another difficult assignment against the improving Paris Lights still searching for their first genuine fourth-quarter test of the season.

London Warriors 44 @ 34 Firenze Red Lions
With both Paris and Berlin stumbling, the London Warriors continued their push for a potential postseason berth with an entertaining 44-34 victory over the Firenze Red Lions in arguably the weekend’s most open offensive contest.
London wasted little time taking control as quarterback Karé Lyles connected with Marcus Libman for a 40-yard touchdown on the opening drive. Libman remained the focal point throughout a blistering first quarter as the Warriors raced to 20 points, his second score of the day following Antoine Allwood-Bennett’s 67-yard blocked field goal ‘kick six’ and a Devin Carter reply for the home side
Firenze continued to show encouraging signs under new head coach Mike Mitchell, with quarterback Matthew McKay repeatedly finding Carter, who finished the game with four touchdown receptions despite the Red Lions being unable to mix up their offense after losing their starting running back on the opening drive.
Defender Nacho Diz produced several momentum-changing plays as Firenze twice threatened to mount a comeback, with Carter’s third score shortly bfore half-time bringing the side to within three points of each other. With just 24secs of the half remaining, however, Lyles found Kevin Laryea in the endzone to restore London’s 10-point advantage and, with the sides swapping scores after the break, the gap remained steady to the end.
Ultimately, London’s defensive front made the difference, as a sustained four-man pass rush through the second half gradually disrupted Firenze’s rhythm, allowing the Warriors to pull away before closing out an important road victory.
The result keeps London firmly in the playoff conversation ahead of a trip to the Alpine Rams, while Firenze, even if defeat, at least offered evidence that they might be able to establish a clearer identity following their recent coaching change.

With no teams on a bye in Week 8, the schedule is completed by the Red Lions’ visit to Berlin, where the Italian side might fancy their chances of finally breaking their duck, even if thoughts of catching Vienna at the top of the South/East Conference will be few. Wrocław remain a game back of the Vikings, with two-win Berlin third in the table.
Rhein continue to top the North/West Conference at 4-1, and remain two games clear of their pursuers as Paris failed to take advantage of the German side’s bye. London, meanwhile, have drawn level with the Lights following their second win of the season, but remain behind the French side by dint of having played a game more. Alpine Rams prop up the division at 1-4.
