The American Football League Europe reached the quarter pole of its inaugural season with a weekend that saw the London Warriors finally break through for their first victory, the Vienna Vikings maintain their perfect start, Rhein Fire pitch a shutout in Duisburg and the Panthers Wrocław reassert themselves as championship contenders with a statement performance against Berlin Thunder.

Firenze Red Lions 26 @ 51 London Warriors
The wait is over for the London Warriors. After opening their debut AFLE campaign with three consecutive defeats, Tony Allen’s side exploded into life on home soil, piling up 51 points in a convincing victory over the Firenze Red Lions to secure the first win in franchise history.
Having shown flashes of promise throughout the opening weeks, London finally put together a complete offensive performance. Quarterback Karé Lyles enjoyed his most productive outing since arriving in the British capital, operating efficiently behind improved protection and consistently moving the chains against a Firenze defence that never found an answer.
The Warriors established control early and never relinquished it, producing scoring drives throughout the afternoon while demonstrating an offensive balance that had been missing during their 0-3 start. Rather than relying on a single star, London received contributions from across the roster. Running back Andy Owusu continued his impressive start to the season, powering his way to two touchdowns and repeatedly punishing defenders with his physical running style. Wide receiver Kevin Laryea remained a constant threat, adding a touchdown of his own while finishing just shy of the century mark in receiving yards.
Most encouraging for Allen and his coaching staff, however, was the diversity of the attack. The Warriors spread the ball effectively, sustained drives and finished possessions, allowing them to maintain pressure on Firenze throughout the contest.
For the Red Lions, the defeat extended a difficult start to the season. Still searching for their first victory, Firenze slipped further behind the pace after another defensive collapse. Having surrendered 45 points against Berlin in Week 3, they were once again unable to slow an opposing offense and now face mounting pressure to find solutions before the season slips away completely.

Paris Lights 0 @ 35 Rhein Fire
A week after suffering defeat to old rivals Vienna, the Rhein Fire delivered a powerful response, blanking the newcomer Paris Lights 35-0 in Duisburg.
The final score suggested dominance, but the contest was far more evenly balanced through the opening quarter. Both defenses controlled proceedings in a bruising start that yielded just 23 total yards between the two teams during the first 15 minutes.
Unfortunately, the moment that changed the game arrived through injury rather than execution, as Paris quarterback Evan Hillock suffered a hand injury during the opening quarter and was eventually forced from the game. Although he briefly attempted to return, the injury proved too severe, leaving backup Marouane Dardour to carry the offensive burden.
Without their starting quarterback, the Lights struggled to sustain drives and gradually lost control of the game as the Fire took full advantage of their opponent’s plight. Jonathan Scott, Kenji Bahar and Giacomo de Pauli spearheaded a relentless ground attack that produced four rushing touchdowns, while QB Bahar also connected with Kaylon Geiger Sr for a passing score as the hosts steadily pulled away after half-time.
The shutout represented an important bounce-back result for Rhein, who now rise above .500 and carry renewed momentum into next week’s German derby against Berlin Thunder. Paris, meanwhile, will spend the coming days anxiously monitoring Hillock’s condition ahead of a crucial Week 5 trip to the Alpine Rams.

Berlin Thunder 12 @ 50 Panthers Wrocław
If there were any lingering doubts about the Panthers Wrocław following their loss to Vienna, they were emphatically erased on Sunday as the Polish side overwhelmed Berlin Thunder 50-12 in one of the most anticipated match-ups of the weekend.
Quarterback Jameson Wang once again underlined his credentials as one of the league’s premier players, orchestrating a devastating offensive display that saw the home side racing into a 30-0 half-time lead before cruising to victory. The Panthers were equally effective through the air and on the ground, with Dawid Brzozowski rushing for 148 yards on just 16 carries while Wang dissected the Thunder secondary.
The scoring began with Wang’s connection to Mike Harley Jr, who hauled in a 41-yard touchdown reception on fourth down. Kacper Jaszewski added two touchdowns, Juan Flores-Calderón found the end zone on a 33-yard strike, Maciej Krupa contributed another score and Wang added a rushing touchdown of his own before handing over to back-up Diego Lliteras late in the contest. Kamil Kotlarz rounded off the scoring with a 33-yard touchdown run.
For Berlin, the afternoon represented a dramatic reversal after the offensive fireworks of previous weeks. Quarterback Jakeb Sullivan entered the game leading the league statistically, but found himself under constant pressure. He was sacked three times and repeatedly forced into hurried decisions as Wrocław’s defense controlled the line of scrimmage. Compounding the Thunder’s problems were the penalties that have become an unwelcome theme of their season. Repeated flags stalled drives, extended Panthers possessions and prevented Berlin from building any momentum. The result sends Wrocław into its bye week full of confidence, while Berlin must quickly regroup before a daunting road trip to face Rhein Fire.

Alpine Rams 20 @ 47 Vienna Vikings
The Vienna Vikings remain the AFLE’s only unbeaten team after dismantling the Alpine Rams 47-20 on home soil to improve to 4-0.
The contest was effectively decided before half-time, as the Vikings capitalised on a series of errors from the visitors. A disastrous opening sequence for the Rams saw their first drive end in a punt before a special teams mistake handed Vienna possession deep inside Alpine territory. The Vikings immediately took advantage, setting the tone for a first half in which they scored touchdowns on four of five offensive possessions. Meanwhile, by the break, Alpine had converted just one of seven third-down attempts, accumulated fewer than 100 offensive yards and found itself firmly under siege.
Quarterback Ben Holmes was again at the centre of everything good the Vikings produced. The league’s standout passer threw for 323 yards and five total touchdowns in only three quarters of action, continuing his remarkable start to the season. The biggest beneficiaries were tight ends Florian Bierbaumer and Bernhard Seikovits, who each caught two touchdown passes as Holmes repeatedly exploited mismatches in the Rams secondary. The QB also added a rushing touchdown, further strengthening his position among the league leaders in scores on the ground.
With the outcome long since decided, Vienna was able to rest starters throughout the fourth quarter and provide valuable experience to its reserves. They next head to London looking to preserve their unbeaten record against a Warriors team buoyed by its first-ever AFLE victory, while the Rams return home for a welcome bye seeking answers after another difficult afternoon.

Four weeks into the season, only Vienna remains unbeaten and, quite frankly, that statement could be repeated each week until the end of the campaign. Wrocław’s victory over Berlin, however, means that the Poles sit just a game back of the leaders in the South/East conference, with Berlin at .500 through the opening month.
Having had a Week 1 bye, Rhein Fire have steadily moved to the top of the North/West conference, and hold the only winning record there as the Rams and Lights each slip to 1-2 and London gets on the board with its first win in four attempts.
