TIROL REINSTATED TO EFA, WILL PLAY IN ELF

The European Football Alliance (EFA) has announced the full member franchise reinstatement of the Raiders Tirol, confirming the Austrian side’s participation in the 2026 European League of Football season.

By rejoining the EFA, the Raiders secure their position within the new governance structure, which ensures equal access to the EFA’s ownership stake, revenue surplus participation and a seat on the team-led board of governors as the ELF looks to re-establish itself as the premier professional league in Europe in the face of opposition from the upstart AFLE.

The Raiders are recognised as one of Europe’s most storied organisations and representing the ‘new’ ELF’s first Austrian franchise. Although their historic rivalry with the Vienna Vikings has been put on pause by the ladder’s expected affiliation to the AFLE, the Raiders’ presence further strengthens the coalition of well-managed, proven ELF teams already confirmed from Germany, France, Spain, Czechia and the Nordics.

The league has also revealed the anticipated addition of EFA member franchises in both the United Kingdom and Italy for 2027, with both operations already fully integrated into the board of governors. This timeline allows for an orderly — and fully-capitalised — debut for both franchises, ensuring operational excellence from day one — a question mark that has been levied against the AFLE, which has yet to reveal the identity of teams its expects to add ahead of its inaugural season. The EFA coalition represents a field of established organisations that are fully capitalised and are operationally ready today.

“We are building a league of operational franchises defined by active front offices, complete rosters, proven business models and long-term vision,” the EFA board of governors confirmed in a joint statement.

While the league remains in active dialogue with additional high-quality ownership groups in Germany, Poland and Switzerland, the board insists that it will only admit additional teams that meet the Alliance’s rigorous standards for financial and operational readiness.

All the while, the ELF continues to work towards finalising a 2026 schedule designed to maximise competitive balance among Europe’s best organisations.
