VIKINGS COMPLETE UNIFORM TRILOGY

Vienna Vikings have completed their three-part uniform presentation for the 2026 season by photographing their military-themed design at the city’s Museum of Military History.

The shoot, arranged in conjunction with the Austrian Armed Forces, follows earlier reveals staged at two contrasting Viennese cultural institutions. The Vikings’ home uniform was presented at the Museum of Applied Arts, better known as the MAK, while the road design featured at the Heidi Horten Collection. Placing the third uniform among the Museum of Military History’s exhibits brings that series to a logical conclusion, but the timing also serves a more immediate purpose, as Vienna will wear the design when Panthers Wrocław visit the Wiener Sport-Club Stadium on Saturday for the Vikings’ second Military Gameday of the season.

The Austrian Armed Forces have partnered with the organisation since 2024 and support Vienna’s ‘Salute to Service’ fixtures, which combine the game with vehicle and equipment displays, interactive stations and other activities around the stadium. While the uniform provides the most visible expression of that relationship, the wider event has been developed as part of the Vikings’ effort to give individual home dates their own identity. Saturday’s game needs little additional promotion on competitive grounds, however. Unbeaten Vienna lead the South/East Conference at 9–0, with Wrocław their nearest challengers at 7–2. The Vikings won the first meeting 42–23 in Poland and another victory would move them three games clear with only two remaining, securing the conference championship and a home semi-final.

Wrocław travel to Austria in improving form after successive wins over the Alpine Rams and Firenze Red Lions, although the Panthers’ most recent meeting with another leading contender ended in a 48–7 defeat against Rhein Fire. Vienna, meanwhile, return from their bye having won each of their opening nine games, including a 28–16 road victory over the Fire. The match-up therefore represents more than the latest outing for a special uniform, as it places the AFLE’s only undefeated team against a Panthers side still pursuing one of the league-wide wildcard places while retaining a mathematical — if extremely unlikely — opportunity to overhaul Vienna within the conference.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm local time at the Wiener Sport-Club Stadium.
