Gridiron Cheat Sheet – TNF Week 3
Gridiron presents some key considerations before you lay your money down on this week’s Thursday night game between the Jets and Browns.
NEW YORK JETS (+3) @ CLEVELAND BROWNS
- Cleveland WR Josh Gordon has been traded to the Patriots after reportedly injuring his hamstring on a photoshoot
- While several players remain questionable for the game, Browns DE Emmanuel Ogbah is definitely ruled out with an ankle injury, and TEs for both sides – Seth DeValve (CLE) and Neal Sterling (NYJ) – will not play either
- Zane Gonzales missed two field goals and two extra points against the Saints, costing the Browns a possible win – he has since been waived and replaced by rookie FAU kicker Greg Joseph
- After a top 40 wide receiver performance last year, Robby Anderson has almost been a non-factor in the Sam Darnold offense (4/6, 68 yards), with Quincy Enunwa taking over as the top receiver (13/20, 155 yards, TD) followed by Terrelle Pryor (7/11, 133 yards)
- The snap and passing route counts tell a different story, however: Enunwa (92 snaps, 60 passing routes), Anderson (88s, 58r), Pryor (68s, 43r). Anderson could be a buy low prospect
- Expect the equal timeshare in the Jets backfield between Isaiah Crowell (24 touches, 141 yards, 2 TDs) and Bilal Powell (23 touches, 145 yards, TD) to continue
- Rashard Higgins and Antonio Callaway look to profit from the Gordon trade. Callaway leapt ahead of Higgins in snap count from Week 1 (17% vs 60% respectively) to Week 2 (81% vs 74% respectively), and the Browns seem to be trusting the fourth round rookie to replace Gordon as WR2 over the more experienced Higgins
- Terrance Mitchell and Myles Garrett have two forced fumbles apiece in the first two weeks
- Browns tackles Desmond Harrison and Chris Hubbard are much weaker than the inside OL, and are especially weak in the outside rush
UNDER 4.5 touchdowns @ 1.66
